YGBM Pupil is World Champion Kick Boxer
Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg year 9 pupil, Darcey McGuigan recently competed in the World United Martial Arts (WUMA) World Championship held in Worcester on 7 October 2018
At just 13 years old, Darcey was one of the youngest competitors in her category, Kick Boxing Open: Under 175 cm, but with skill and determination went on to win the World Championship title.
Darcey comments, 'I am a member of The Titans Club in Barry and have to train really hard every week with my coach, Caie Coop. My teachers at YGBM are very supportive, making sure I have time for my training and keeping up with my school work. I was really nervous but it was amazing to win the World Championship, a dream come true'.
Mr Price, YGBM Headteacher added, ‘We are very proud of Darcey's incredible achievement and YGBM will, of course, continue to support this talented and determined young lady in all her future competitions. Da iawn ti!’
