Pupils, parents, teachers and governors at Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg are celebrating excellent A Level examination results this year as the school achieves a pass rate of 100% of pupils achieving 2 or more A Levels at A*-E. 96.36% of pupils gained 3 or more A Levels at A*-E whilst 76.36% of the year group gained 3 or more A Levels at A*-C. (an improvement of 8% points since 2019). 25.45% of all grades were A*-A (an improvement of 4% points since 2019). Due to the Covid-19 outbreak these results were based upon teacher centre assessed grades in rank order and include the most recent guidance from the Senedd as of 12/08/2020 . These were standardised by the WJEC and Qualifications Wales based upon Year 12 AS results, internal data and the historical performance of the school.

The school wishes to congratulate, in particular, some very high-achieving students this year.

Three students have successfully gained places at Oxbridge – Twm Aled (4 A* grades) will study English at Cambridge University, Elly Greening (4 A* grades) will study Biology at Oxford University and Huw Jones (2A* and 2 A grades) will study Geography at Oxford University. Lowri Owen with 4 A* grades will study Medicine at Liverpool University and Ceri Vaughan Jones also gained 4 A* grades. Begw Rowlands was awarded 2A*, 1 Distinction* and 1A grade, Lily Carpenter secured 3A grades and 1C whilst Iestyn Miller will study Chemical Engineering with 2 A*, 1A and 1B grade. Ellie Huxter and Dafydd Coleman both gained 2A*, 1A and 1B, whilst Indeg Evans gained 1A* and 3A Grades. Ani Davies gained 1 Distinction * and 3A grades and Aled Reardon James gained 1A* and 2A grades.

Despite their inability to complete the external examinations this year the grades fairly reflect the commitment, work ethic and educational development of the students during a very difficult and challenging situation. We are extremely proud of all our students and wish them every success! Llongyfarchiadau gwresog i bawb!

A Level Results 2019

Pupils, parents, teachers and Governors at Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg are celebrating excellent A Level examination results this year as the school achieves a pass rate of 100% of pupils achieving 2 or more A Levels at A*-E. 100% of pupils gained 3 or more A Levels at A*-E whilst 68.3% of the year group gained 3 or more A Levels at A*-C. 21.4% of all grades were A*-A. The Welsh Baccalaureate is a particular strength of the school with 85.4% of all pupils gaining A*-C grades and 41.5% gaining A*-A grades.

The school wishes to congratulate, in particular, some very high-achieving students this year. Jack Tweddle, who achieved an outstanding 5 A* grades, will be going to Bath to study Physics with Astrophysics. Joseff Nicholas will be attending Warwick University to study Mathematics, having achieved 4 A* grades and 1 A grade. Another of our students, Robbie Thomas, achieved 4 A* grades and 1 A grade and will be looking forward to going to Bristol University to study Mathematics in the Autumn. We continue our tradition of educating the doctors of the future, with Iestyn Fenn achieving 2 A* grades and 2 As, and earning his place in Cardiff University to study Medicine.

This year, our students are about to embark upon an exciting array of courses at University. Tom Lowrie will study Politics and International Studies at Loughborough University, while Elin Jones will study Law at Cardiff. Aled Misra has accepted a place at Exeter to study Physics and Astrophysics. Esyllt Evans, a passionate linguist, will study Modern Languages in Bath University and we are very pleased that Leah Griffiths can pursue her dream of studying adult nursing. We are extremely proud of all our students and wish them every success! Llongyfarchiadau gwresog i bawb!
