Science Club

If you are in Year 7 and want to try some mind-boggling experiments or if you want to find out more about how the world works, or if you just want to spend more time in the labs with your friends; then look no further than the Science Club.  This weekly club gives you a chance to ask all those questions and to try those experiments that you have been itching to attempt. 

This club is run by members of the Science department as well as pupils from older year groups who are passionate about Science and want to share that enthusiasm with you!

STEM Club

For pupils in Years 8-10 join our STEM club to try your hand at scientific challenges and problems with friends.  This club runs every week and often partake in exciting competitions.

Here are some examples of recent activities and competitions:

  • Faraday Challenge Day
  • Life Sciences Challenge 
  • Top of The Bench Royal Society of Chemistry
  • British Airways STEM #notjustforboys event
  • Engineering Team Challenge with the Institute of Civil Engineers Cymru (The 2019 team were champions across South Wales)
  • Science in Health Live
  • Science day at the Welsh Government 
  • DNA Techniquest Workshop
  • Cardiff Science Society Lecture Competition (Cymdeithasol Wyddonol Caerdydd a'r Cylch) 

Accolades 

Congratulations to the team who came second in Wales in the 2019, Cardiff University School of Medicine Life Sciences Challenge.  The team did exceptionally well to reach the final which was incredibly technical and of a very high standard.  The team were; Freya, Ellis, Gruff and Iolo.  A very well done to them all.

 Well done to Menna and Lowri for an excellent presentation on Chemiluminescence and for coming second in the Cardiff Science Society 2019 competition!
