Orating, communicating, the gift of the gab - call it what you will  - the skill to explain your ideas and viewpoints clearly and in an engaging way is essential.  The public speaking club allows you to try your hand at presenting your opinions and holding the attention of your peers. Learn to craft your words and deal with being under pressure; or sit back and enjoy the social with friends.  There's a warm welcome for everyone.

Due to COVID-19 outbreak timings for extra curricular activities may differ.

Accolades

Congratulations to our public speaking team (Morgan Bailey, Sara Jones and Rhys Griffiths) who represented Wales in the 2019 ESU Churchill Public Speaking Competition. A special well done to Rhys Griffiths on winning the Outstanding Personality Award.  We were proud that Huw Jones also gave a speech as a past winner with advice and tips for the younger pupils. Over 1,000 students took part from all over the UK with 70 heats and branch finals and eight regional finals making it the largest public speaking competition in England and Wales therefore the standard was unsurprisingly high. ESU alumna and broadcaster Susie Fowler-Watt of BBC Look East has been a judge for the last four years and commented that this was the highest standard she had encountered to date. Another judge, Baroness D’Souza, former Lord Speaker of the House of Lords, was equally impressed.
